Location: Brighton, BN1

Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour

Shift Pattern: 6-Day Rolling Rota

Available Shifts:

• AM Shift: 05:00-13:00 or 06:00-14:00
• PM Shift: 13:39-22:00

We are currently recruiting Street Cleansing Drivers to support Environmental Services operations across Brighton. This role combines driving duties with hands-on cleansing work and offers applicants the choice of either AM or PM shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive council vans between designated cleansing locations.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects.
• Support street cleansing activities including litter picking, bin emptying, sweeping, and waste collection.
• Transport equipment, waste, and materials safely between sites.
• Follow allocated routes, schedules, and operational instructions.
• Complete vehicle and operational records accurately.
• Ensure waste is handled and disposed of in accordance with relevant procedures.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

Requirements

• Full UK driving licence with van driving entitlement.
• Previous van driving experience is preferred.
• Strong awareness of safe driving and health and safety practices.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable, professional, and flexible in approach.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
