General Maintenance Operative

Salary: £30,000-£35,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30 (40 hours per week)

Location: Field‑based across multiple UK sites

A long‑established UK property operator is looking for a versatile General Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep of a diverse portfolio of commercial buildings. You'll be carrying out a mix of planned and reactive maintenance across storage sites, office spaces, and small retail units.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll handle a broad range of general maintenance duties, including:

  • General building repairs, including cladding and roofing
  • Basic plumbing
  • Joinery and carpentry
  • Tiling
  • Painting and decorating
  • Carpet fitting / minor flooring works
  • Paving and small civils
  • Drainage works
  • Grounds maintenance and site clearance
  • Pressure washing
  • Furniture assembly and removals

No two days are the same, and you'll be supporting multiple sites as part of a growing facilities team.


What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a building trade or property maintenance role
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating
  • Roofing/cladding experience (desirable)
  • CSCS card (desirable)
  • Confident using IT systems to log work and manage costs
  • Strong organisational skills to meet KPI/SLA targets
  • Good understanding of H&S, including hazard identification and point‑of‑work risk assessments
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly with site teams
