By law, professional drivers operating Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) including licence categories C1, C and C+E and Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) of either D1 or D categories must hold a valid Certificate of Professional Competence.
In order to obtain a Driver Qualification Card (DQC), drivers must complete a minimum of 35 hours of training every 5 years with a Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) approved training provider.
The legislation came into effect in 2009 and many existing drivers will be coming up to updating their 5 year CPC. It’s important that all our drivers have up-to-date CPCs as they could be fined up to £1,000 for driving professionally without it.
How can we help?
We value the loyal service of our drivers and want to help make life easier by offering access to free CPC training based on their service with us.
How to qualify?
To qualify for one free CPC training course, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must have worked in a driving capacity for us for 3 months, averaging 32 hours per week per quarter (or 350 hours per rolling 12 week period) starting from 1st October. Any driving hours already worked through Blue Arrow since 1st October 2018 will count towards your weekly average or total driving hours per rolling 12-week period.
- You must pay your own upload fee of £8.75 on the date of the CPC training directly to the DVLA central database
- You must hold a valid C1, C or C+E Category licence.
Under the above criteria it is possible for you to receive the full 35 hours’ training free, gaining access to one day of free training for every 3 months of service with Blue Arrow.
